The Mid-Hudson Library System Battle of the Books program is open to middle- and high-school students.
Program
What is B.O.B.? Mid-Hudson Battle of the Books encourages a community of middle- and high-school-aged readers in our five-county region by introducing them to great books, authors, and their fellow readers in an atmosphere of friendly competition and good sportsmanship. Battle of the Books is a reading and trivia competition between libraries in the Mid Hudson Library System for students who will be entering 6th through 12th grade in the fall. Participants compete on teams to answer trivia questions based on the eight preselected books. The Mid Hudson Battle of the Books program is a great way to expose students in middle and high school to new titles and authors, give kids the experience of being on a team and engage in friendly competition. The program will have a Regional Battle for all teams on September 19, 2026.
Regional Battles
Teams will set up practice battles with neighboring libraries throughout the summer and come together for a “round-robin” competition on Saturday, September 19, 2026. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners will be recognized.
